everland

i was at work for 13 hours on my birthday, so i didn't do anything special. the following weekend i went to everland. it's a strange combination of disney world, six flags and a zoo. it went as follows:

there were two of these and they were not the typical viking ships, but columbus' ships.

remember this arcade game?

this roller coaster was huge. the 't express' claims to be the steepest wooden coaster in the world. according to the map it has the greatest vertical incline, at 77 degrees, in the world, and is the highest, fastest and longest coaster in korea.

beavers.

there were a lot of different kinds of owls.

sloths.

of course some weird characters to help reinforce it's theme-park-ness (i know it's not a word).

busan: day 4

looking out the window saturday moring at gwangalli beach. there was some sort of naval sports competition taking place. we decided that we would go to haeundae to see what all the fuss was about.

all of the fuss is thousands of umbrellas and nowhere to put your own blanket unless you rent an umbrella. no thanks, we'll go somewhere else where there is less people and i can go swimming without there being hundreds of people up on me.

it was nice to see a little capoeira as we were walking through.

these guys definitely spent some time coordinating their speedos so they didn't all look the same.

nice random throw up.

we ended up at songjeong beach, the next beach to the north of haeundae. it was crowded, but not nearly as much. also there was space for us to put our blanket for free.

the ajeoshis like to make a sauna out of the sand and take a nap.

there was a windsurfing race.

had dinner a korean/japanese fusion place. it was pretty good. had a lot of beer and soju cocktail.

this guy was playing hyunjoo's dad's favorite song.

got some freshly roasted coffee from this guy. i've been drinking it since returning home and let me tell you, it damn good.

this is day five at 5:30am. we had to go catch the train. there were still people partying from the night before as we caught a cab.

tired.

excellent trip, i highly recommend busan. the people are super friendly and from what i've seen so far, it's a very nice city.
