kyeongju: daeleungwon

we got up the next morning and had a delicious 쌈밥 (ssam-bap), meaning literally to wrap rice, breakfast.  afterward we headed to daeleungwon which is a huge ground covered in old burial mounds.
we were allowed entrance into this one, the heavenly horse tomb (read about it here).

this is the painted birch saddle depicting the eight legged flying horse.  this thing was really interesting to see.  my photo doesn't do it any justice and you can refer to the link above to see one only slightly better.

kyeongju: anapji

after we met yoonyeong for dinner, we went to anapji.  anapji is a pond created in the late 7th century as part of the shilla palace, banwolseong.  a few buildings have been reconstructed.
if you ever go at night like did, be sure to bring a tripod so you can get some good shots of all the lights.

kyeongju: seokgulam

after leaving bulguksa, we drove up the mountain to seokgulam, a cave/stone grotto containing a big shrine.  it's assumed to have been built in the mid 8th century.
no photography was allowed inside and even though i managed to grab a few hip shots, none of them captured the main statue in full.

you can see here how the building is built into a hill.
