new orleans

the last weekend of the january, daniel, joe and i met sean in new orleans.

 

  

  

  

you get the idea, right? of course you do.

early in the french quarter.

 

later in the casino.  i think joe lost some and daniel won some.   you can see what sean and i did...watched college basketball of course.

  

  

later again in the french quarter.  caught the tail end of some parade.

 

 

made our way to some karaoke bar so joe could sing something.

it turned out to be bel biv devoe's poison and he killed it.

 

even this guy on the street was feeling it.

even later we ended up in this place where one of the bartenders had a confrontation with a customer, but it was the bartender that got pissed and dumped the beer on the customer.

much later we managed to make it back to our hotel.

the next day, daniel passed out in the back of the car while the rest of us got some breakfast.  sean ate oysters.

caught part of this parade and these guys were killing it.

 

joe drove daniel home.

sean and i rode to houston, as i was leaving from there in a couple of days to go to ohio.

 

  

   

new orleans is expensive.

a performance

not much happened during most of january.  started repainting my parents' house since the most recent coat was the original coat thirty years ago.  also continued looking for another teaching position back in korea.

but daniel and i did go see my mom in a singing performance.  i forget exactly what the genre is, but the content was full of nostalgia and sentiment.  she and everyone with her did an excellent job.

back in the mother land

hyunjoo came to the states for the first couple weeks of my return.

look at this one closely and you can see the great wall on the flight from beijing to new york.

i forget where now, but at dinner.

 

it snowed during our time there, i guess this was mid december.

 

pheasants that my dad and larry brought back from kansas.

 

  

took a ride on this crazy thing in the rain up at the hodson compound.

 

after christmas with the family, hyunjoo and i took a little road trip.  first we went and stayed the night in melbourne, then went to nasa the next day.  nasa is way over priced, don't go.

 

  

  

soon we were back on the road.

 

  

we were headed for the keys, but my dad said that everything was either booked or expensive, so we stopped in miami for a couple nights.

 

found some thai food to cure the morning snarls.

  

then went to the state park on key biscayne.

we went downtown for dinner and to bring in the new year.

on the road again.

  

after a couple more nights, hyunjoo went back to new york for a few days before heading back to korea.
