3 weeks in asia: part 2.1

we arrived in hong kong in the early afternoon of day six. our flight was good, i got a vegetarian meal. hong kong would be our landscape from december 1st-6th. this post only covers days one and two.

we made our way from the airport to tsim sha tsui in the kowloon area.  after initially dealing with and barely escaping from a somewhat psychotic lady trying to get us to stay in her hostel, we found a guy that had something we could work with.  it was tiny, but we were only sleeping there so it didn't matter.  there was not much more to it than what you can see here.  i don't have a photo of the bathroom, but you had to sit on the toilet sideways.

what do you know about duck people?

our first meal was some fried rice in the same mansion, chungking mansion, as we were staying.  i'll let it be known  here, that there were a lot of these so called 'mansions' and they were far, far from it and beyond shady.

we decided to head down towards victoria harbor since it was close.

we talked to the guy with the bike, he is piotr.  he had just reached his destination of hong kong from his starting point in germany.  he had been cycling since the end of march.  you can find his website here www.noxot.de

every night at 8 there is a light show at the harbor.

after that ended we went to explore a bit of the area.

youth practicing tai chi in the park.

there were a lot of hookers out that night, didn't get any photos for you though.

we decided to head to the hong kong museum of art when we got up the second day.

we decided to go eat some dim sum at sweet dynasty.  it was all pretty good.  i ordered a crepe with durian and whipped cream.  it wasn't bad, but it stuck with us all day long, burping it up.

we checked out the mong kok area afterward.  there was a chill park that was elevated compared to the rest of the area.  it had a bunch of birds in it.
