kyeongju: bulguksa

saturday, may 15th, rich (jeongook), emily, camille and i went to kyeongju located in the south-eastern part of korea.  kyeongju is where the first capital of korea was located during the shilla dynasty.  yoonyeong, my old head teacher (their current), is from kyeongju.  she was there working in a public school for credit towards a new degree.  though hyunjoo didn't go, she was able to book us a night in a condo that her parents have a time-share in.

the first thing we went to was bulguksa, a temple built 15 centuries ago.

all of the lanterns that you'll see were for buddha's birthday, which was on the following friday, may 21st.

the steps of the main temple are one of its most noted features.
the fresh mountain spring water was really tasty.
inside the main grounds are two large 탑 (tap) or pagodas.
i think this old guy had parkinson's.
