3 weeks in asia: part 2.2

day three in hong kong, we got up and found some indian food in the neighborhood.

then we went to hong kong island...

and took the cable car to the peak.

after we came down from the peak we explored a bit of the north side of hong kong island.  a lot of it looked like manhattan.  this would be one of many traditional chinese medicine shops.  you name it, they had it.  here are some pipefish and crucified lizards.

yep, that's a pig head.

after getting back around our guest house, we found a little falafel restaurant that was great and had some beers next door at fats.

these korean guys befriended us.  they asked us to go dancing.  no thanks.

the next day we went to tin hau temple.  tin hau is the goddess of seafarers.  apparently there was a no photography policy, but i never saw a sign and nobody said anything to me.

i forget exactly, but these incense coils burn for like 10 or 15 days.

the hong kong museum of history had some pretty cool things.

had some pretty sushi for dinner at kyozasa.

after dinner we went and walked the avenue of the stars which is down on the harbor and got to see another light show.

if it wasn't for things like this on many of the large buildings, i never would have known it was almost christmas.

we came up on some yuppie bar called mody's.  it had a network of filipino hookers working at it and they wouldn't leave us alone.  after ordering our one and only drink in english, the one at the bottom did her damnedest to make eye contact.  after awhile another one came up and tried to talk to me, but i only spoke to her in korean and she made a big deal about it with her crew of slors about my being bilingual, i don't know why, she was bilingual too.  the waitress asked me what language i spoke to her in, then asked if i was scared of sex or a virgin.  my response was simply no thanks, i don't get down like that.  we promptly left.  not that they will probably ever see this, but just a little note to the owners, providing hookers for patrons is fine, but some people do only come for drinks and when your nasty braces wearing sluts run off your customers, well, that's exactly it.
