3 weeks in asia: part 3.2

rising on day 14 at about 6:30, we had some breakfast and watched a pack of 3-legged, mangy dogs fight over some rice.

and the sunrise.

we arrived at the train station in chiang mai around 8:30.  we got a ride to julie's guest house, booked a room and went for a walk, as we wouldn't be able to get in our room for a few hours.

when we got back the guy in our room hadn't checked out yet.  ganchana, the lady helping us, went to check on him and he said he was 'too sick' to get up and asked to stay another night.  she asked him to move to group room, but he said it would be too difficult as he would have to move his and his buddy's stuff (who had gone on a trek).  ganchana asked if we would stay in the group room, as there were no other private rooms available.  we agreed and checked in, so we could get showers and decide what we would be doing the next few days.

we spent the entire day and night at julie's just relaxing.  after looking at many different options we booked a 3 day/2 night trek that started the next morning.  we also went ahead and booked transport from chiang mai to siem reap, cambodia after the trek, as well as booked a flight from cambodia back to bangkok.  we did all of this with ganchana at julie's.  there was also a restaurant there.  i highly recommend julie's as the guest house to use if you ever get to chiang mai, thailand.
